Here at Spa Groomtopia we love doing hand stripping for terriers, schnauzers, and griffons!

Hand stripping removes the dead hair freeing the follicles to produce the new strong and healthy hair. Hence, the coat keeps its rich and bright colors and a thick and weather protective texture. That thick wiry type of the coat that these breeds are known for has its purpose. Most of these breeds are hunters or working dogs.
Their coats protect them from scratchy hedgerows, claws of wild animals, or anything that can cut open the skin. The wire hair also resists water and mud, works as a windbreaker and does not mat easily.
Hand stripping can be done as often as every 3 weeks to 3 months, which means the dog will keep the same sleek look on regular basis, or it could be done 2 to 3 times a year in which case the dog will keep a shaggy look for a much longer time. Prices depend on the frequency of hand stripping sessions, on the breed and on the grooming package.
